Our story goes back a while, so we will try to keep it brief!
The directors (Alex and Rob) met at the age of 10 when Alex moved to London from Belgium. They followed each other through their educational careers and both ended up attending The University of Birmingham where Alex studied Business Management and Rob studied History. They stayed in Birmingham another year where they undertook a Masters in Real Estate Management both graduating with Distinctions.
It was always their goal to build a successful company together, but they needed to find the right time and opportunity. They decided that they needed to learn their trade and the best route forward would be to gain some industry experience. They were both accepted on graduate training schemes where Alex worked at Montagu Evans and Rob at Workman.
With several years of experience under their belts and having qualified as Chartered Surveyors they decided the timing was right to start up on their own.
So they gave up their secure jobs, leaving the luxuries of Mayfair for the shed! Wanting to minimise overheads, their first project was to ‘refurbish’ the shed in Alex’s back garden into the first Joining Ventures office. Pictured right in all its glory.
Originally, Joining Ventures started out as a property consultancy company – leaning on both Alex and Rob’s experience in valuations, investment & development agency, and asset and property management. As a small office, they quickly realised their time was being stretched thin and decided to adopt a new strategy going forward. They decided to focus on one aspect and become the go to company in that area.
After much deliberation they decided to concentrate on investment & development agency. An area they were both familiar with, enjoyed, and had a great existing network.
Since then, Joining Ventures has operated as a niche investment & development agency acquiring and disposing of assets on behalf of clients. In an industry often overshadowed by questionable practices the team are bringing a professional, entrepreneurial and technological approach to help advance the industry.
